Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Lite Foundry, including this website, accounts, workshops and classroom activities. By signing in or participating in a workshop, you agree to these terms. If you act for an organization, you must have authority to accept terms for that organization. If you do not agree, do not sign in or use the workshops.

Lite Foundry is currently a pilot. Descriptions of possible features are not a promise that those features are available. A separate written agreement with Lite Foundry takes priority over conflicting terms for the services it covers.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 to use Lite Foundry. If you are under the age of legal adulthood where you live, you need a parent or legal guardian’s permission and supervision. Children under 13 must not create accounts or participate through the platform.

Use an account you are authorized to use, keep your sign-in provider account secure, and provide accurate profile and enrollment information. Lite Foundry uses the sign-in providers shown on the login page and does not create a local password for you. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

A personal, work or school account does not by itself establish organization membership, instructor privileges or paid access. Access depends on your enrollment, role and any applicable purchase or invitation. Do not share accounts or transfer access without permission.

2. Authorized lab use

We give you limited permission to use the platform and workshop materials for their intended educational activities during your authorized access period. Follow the workshop instructions and stay within the targets, tools and permissions explicitly assigned to you.

  • Practice security techniques only against the designated lab systems. A lab exercise does not authorize activity against real organizations, other participants’ devices or Lite Foundry’s production services.
  • Do not bypass platform access controls, obtain another user’s data, interfere with other labs, evade resource limits, or use lab resources for unrelated activity such as cryptocurrency mining.
  • Do not deploy malicious software or conduct attacks outside an exercise’s authorized scope, distribute private credentials, or expose restricted workshop answers.
  • Do not harass participants, impersonate someone else, manipulate scores, or upload unlawful content.

Report suspected platform vulnerabilities through the contact on our Security page. Do not access other users’ information to demonstrate a finding.

3. Classes, hosts and collaboration

Instructors and hosts must be authorized to organize their class or event, invite participants, and provide any roster or student information they submit. They are responsible for obtaining necessary permissions and giving participants appropriate information about the activity and its data use. These terms do not replace a school’s safeguarding or privacy obligations.

Follow the host’s reasonable rules and respect your teammates. Depending on the workshop, other participants may see your display name, score and shared contributions; authorized instructors may see the class roster and results. Do not submit confidential personal information in shared answers, chats or reports.

4. Workshop access and availability

Your workshop description, enrollment or purchase specifies the available activities, seats, access period and lab resources. Starting, stopping, saving or restarting a lab is available only where the workshop supports it. Access can expire, and temporary lab systems can be reset or removed. Save permitted copies of work you need to keep.

We may maintain or update the platform and change an exercise to address security, reliability or teaching needs. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, a particular learning outcome, employment, a certification or recognition of a score or badge by another organization.

5. Purchases, sponsorship and refunds

If paid access is offered, the checkout or written order must show the price, currency, applicable taxes, seats, access duration and any usage limits before you commit to pay. Your purchase covers only the access described there. Payment services may have their own terms; do not send payment card details to us by email or in a workshop.

A purchase does not renew automatically unless renewal terms are disclosed and you expressly choose that option. Any cancellation instructions must be provided with a recurring plan. Sponsored access and promotional codes may be limited to specified workshops, participants, seat counts or dates and may not be resold.

For billing questions, cancellations or refund requests, contact us using the email below and include your order reference. If we cancel a paid workshop or cannot provide a material part of purchased access, we will offer an appropriate replacement or refund for the affected access. Any mandatory cancellation, refund or consumer rights that apply where you live remain in effect.

6. Your work and our materials

You retain ownership of the original content you submit. You give Lite Foundry permission to store, process, display and share that content only as needed to operate the service, run and grade the workshop, support the relevant class and address abuse. You must have the rights and permissions needed to submit it. Avoid real incident secrets, passwords, personal records and other sensitive information.

Lite Foundry and its licensors retain their rights in the platform, workshop content and branding. Do not redistribute restricted workshop materials or sell access without permission. Materials explicitly provided for download may be used as their accompanying instructions or license allow. Third-party software, tools and content remain subject to their own licenses.

7. Privacy and third-party services

Our Privacy notice explains the information we process, classroom visibility and how to request access, correction or deletion. You can contact us about account deletion using the email below.

Authentication providers, hosting services, payment processors and external tools operate under their own applicable terms and privacy notices. Their services can change or become unavailable. Naming a vendor or displaying a sign-in logo does not imply sponsorship, endorsement or a license to use that vendor’s products beyond the access actually provided.

8. Suspension and ending access

We may restrict or end access for a material breach of these terms, fraud, unauthorized use, or a necessary security or legal reason. Where practical and appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow you to contact us to resolve it. Immediate action may be needed to protect participants or systems.

You may stop using the service at any time. Ending access does not cancel an existing payment obligation or remove rights to a refund that otherwise apply. Account and workshop records are handled as described in the Privacy notice.

9. Service limits and responsibility

The pilot is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, we do not give warranties beyond the express commitments in these terms or your written order, including warranties of uninterrupted operation or fitness for a particular purpose. Training scenarios are educational and should not be treated as instructions for changing production systems without appropriate review and authorization.

To the extent permitted by law, Lite Foundry is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability or consumer protection that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the platform develops. Updates will show a new effective date on this page. For material changes, we will provide additional notice where reasonably practical or legally required. Changes apply prospectively and do not retroactively reduce an existing purchase’s promised access or mandatory rights. If you do not agree to updated terms, stop using the service.

For questions about these terms, access issues or a dispute, contact Damian Villarreal at damian.villarreal01@utrgv.edu so we can try to resolve the issue.
